Fire is destruction itself. Without an alchemist's hand, it kills and tears down villages, cities and towns. Add it to a man and he becomes the wielder of it. Man itself is already dangerous enough, a few with flames at the beck and call is more threatening. Its meant to be hidden and pushed away. No one should see the secrets. I see that now.

♟—Half awake and half asleep meant that some senses were up and running. For instance, Roy’s brain and thoughts weren’t up but his ears and tongue were. So when Hawkeye spoke to him, without thought, he replied: “Riza, wake me up when Fullmetal grows taller.” It was a bunch of words that came out that formed a sentence that barely made sense. It was as if he wasn’t much aware who it was and aimed an insult at Fullmetal, in case it was him, and was asking the lieutenant to wake him. Although, his sentence didn’t exactly explain that.
